On October 11, 2024, the Qatar Care Ethics Committee hosted an insightful and well-attended virtual educational session titled “Boundaries Matter: Ensuring Professionalism in Nursing Practice.” Held via Zoom, the event brought together 100 staff members, reflecting the organization’s strong and growing commitment to fostering ethical excellence within the nursing workforce.
The session was led by Ms. Michelle Lagahid, Chairperson of the Ethics Committee, together with committee members Mr. Abdulkarim Agga, Ms. Jo Ellen Abuel, and Human Resource Officer Ms. Adjeralie Adovas. Their collaborative effort aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of the Nurses Code of Conduct, emphasizing its essential role as the foundation of professional nursing behavior.
Throughout the program, speakers highlighted several key themes, including the core principles of professionalism, the ethical dilemmas nurses frequently encounter, and the impact of professional conduct on patient outcomes and workplace harmony. By examining real-world scenarios and common challenges, the committee emphasized how adherence to ethical boundaries not only protects patients but also upholds the integrity of the nursing profession.
A central objective of the session was to reinforce the importance of the Code of Conduct as a practical guide for daily nursing practice. By equipping staff with the appropriate knowledge, ethical frameworks, and decision-making tools, the workshop empowered participants to navigate complex clinical situations with confidence and accountability.
Interactive discussions allowed attendees to reflect on their own experiences, share perspectives, and learn from one another, creating a collaborative environment that encouraged open dialogue about professionalism and ethical care.
The “Boundaries Matter” session marked a significant step in Qatar Care’s ongoing efforts to strengthen ethical practice across its nursing community. Through continued education, active engagement, and leadership from the Ethics Committee, the organization reaffirms its dedication to maintaining the highest standards of care, ultimately benefiting both healthcare providers and the patients they serve.
As the profession evolves, Qatar Care underscores the importance of embracing these ethical guidelines and committing to lifelong learning, ensuring that nursing remains a trusted, respected, and patient-centered discipline.
