In a collaborative effort to strengthen breast cancer awareness and clinical competence among healthcare providers, Qatar Care, in partnership with the Qatar Cancer Society, held a virtual educational event titled “Empower Her: A Breast Cancer Webinar” on November 1, 2024. The two-hour session, delivered through the Mastarbadge platform, brought together nurses and allied health practitioners from across Qatar for an afternoon of focused learning and professional development.

The webinar formed part of an accredited Continuing Professional Development (CPD) initiative aimed at enriching practitioners’ understanding of breast cancer, a condition that continues to pose significant health challenges worldwide and within the local community. Over the course of the event, participants benefited from evidence-based insights designed to enhance both their theoretical knowledge and their practical approach to patient care.

The session featured an expert speaker from the Qatar Cancer Society, who guided attendees through essential aspects of breast cancer care, including its pathophysiology, local epidemiology, and the latest standards in treatment and supportive care. The presentation also highlighted the ongoing burden of the disease in Qatar and underscored the importance of early detection through effective screening and diagnostic strategies.

Moderated and facilitated by experienced nursing professionals from Qatar Care, the webinar encouraged active engagement and critical reflection among participants. Attendees were able to compare their pre- and post-session understanding of breast cancer concepts, enabling them to evaluate their learning progress and identify areas for further development.

A key focus of the program was the integration of compassionate, patient-centered practices in supporting individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. Discussions emphasized the importance of holistic care, interprofessional collaboration, and cultural sensitivity in improving patient outcomes.
The activity was officially accredited under Category 1 by the Ministry of Public Health’s Department of Healthcare Professions – Accreditation Section, qualifying participants for a maximum of 1.50 CPD hours. The Scientific Planning Committee ensured that all relevant financial relationships were reviewed and disclosed in accordance with accreditation standards.

By the end of the event, healthcare professionals expressed strengthened confidence in their ability to support patients across the spectrum of breast cancer care—from early detection to treatment and ongoing supportive interventions. The successful completion of the “Empower Her” webinar reflected Qatar’s continued commitment to advancing healthcare education and promoting the well-being of women throughout the nation.
